"Total garbage"
This shingle is like cooked spaghetti over 70 degrees, fragile when they're cooler. Extremely easy to damage while walking on them, terrible to install. Stomp tests you see on YouTube is bs. No way you can do that to this shingle without destroying it. Numerous roofers in the area won't install them-roofer that did my 3rd roof(of 3) had to redo 10 squares because they tracked them all up when hot. I NEVER had to worry about that with the ELK shingles that came off that roof. Will never use these again-it's just not a good shingle. Many reports of quality issues with roofers in Denver metro area, some say Malarkey didn't make good on warranty issues. Many quality issues right out of the package-shingles came from OK City plant. GAF now owns Elk and has discontinued the brand or else I would have put the same shingle back on. The 23 year old shingle I took off had more substance to it than the new Malarkey's I put on. Really sad that others are recommending this shingle when it's clearly trash.

"Do not use these"
Installed in 2004 with 30 year warrantee, cost approx $8,000. Gutters were full of grit from the moment installed. 17 years later, was told the shingles had failed. Activated warrantee and was offered $200 as long as a non- disclosure agreement was signed to tell no one of these terms. No replacement/repair offered, only two hundred dollars. Malarkey is a good word for their warrantee. Now a new roof will be $18,000 as long as there is no damage under the shingles so $200 is of no help. Will never use Malarkey products again.

"Very unsatisfied"
We've had this roof for 5 years now. Began blistering after a couple of years. It has lost so much grit, which we find in our gutters, that the color of the roof has gone from an attractive heather to any unattractive redial color. Just waiting for the next hail storm so we can replace. Buyer beware of this company. Yes it is a bunch of Malarky!

"Regional complaints"
I see that most complaints are from areas with high temps and severe weather events being more common. The colder regions seem to have fewer issues. And that is significant, in that regional weather patterns do make a difference. That said I live in far No. Cal. Other new roofs in the area are using the same products as I am having installed. And, I can tell you that not all contractors are the same. Wrong methods helps no one but those contractors. Research research research. I took three months to find the right contractor. We together took a tour of their work from the 90's to last Nov. The proof is in the pudding. It cost me a hundred bucks for his time, but that was cheaper than paying for a second roof.

"Buyer beware"
We received shingles that were defective straight off the factory floor. This company will not stand behind its product. Don't believe all the wonderful things they want to tell you about their product and their company.

"We do not recommend Malarkey Roofing Products"
We do not recommend Malarkey Roofing Products. There was a significant variation in color from the installed product and the marketing materials provided. Malarkey Roofing Products appeared to be more concerned with absolving themselves of any responsibility than providing an acceptable resolution to this issue. The Roofing installation company we hired also agreed that the colors of the installed shingles were quite different than the Marketing Materials that were provided. He did try to help us get some acceptable resolution, but Malarkey Roofing Products maintained their position and was completely inflexible. We understand that there are variations in production lots; however, the installed shingles are not within a normal tolerance. Visually, they are a completely different tone from the marketing brochure and samples (brochure looks like a rich dark brown, whereas the installed shingles are in a medium-to-light Gray family). Be very cautious when doing business that uses Malarky Roofing products.

""Black" Shingles"
Stay far far away!!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from Malarkey. Absolutely terrible customer service an atrocious communication. Filed a claim about defective NEX Shingles regarding color being white/grey when I ordered black shingles and the reps dragged their feet. When I finally got a hold of someone, they told me there would be Zero exceptions made even if there was an issue with color. You've been warned. Go with a better company like Owens Corning, GAF, etc. If you get Malarkey and need anything at all, good luck.

"Great Shingle"
Have had previous roofs installed on multiple homes. This was my first malarkey roof. The insurance savings alone make this a no brainer but let me tell you, we've gotten some crazy rains since the install. Not only no leaks, but I haven't seen any of the granules wash away into my gutter like previous roofs. Malarkey is 3 steps ahead of the game when it comes to residential roofing

"Very Poor Shingle"
Very poor shingle, Ours blistered in the first year. Malarkey will not stand behind their product. The "Blistering issue having no effect on the performance" Defective product and very poor factory support. Look elsewhere, much better products out on the market.

"Best Ever"
I installed my roof 5 years before a tornado decided to rip my entire roof off. It took every piece of decking and several rafters with it and threw it over five acres. Upon inspection, the only shingles that were missing was the ridge. Not one shingle broke loose. And there was 2 1/2" hail...not to mention winds of almost 200 mph...and no hail marks. I read these reviews about blistering and nail heads being exposed. This is an issue with the installer and not Malarkey shingles. Of course Malarkey isn't going to warranty poor installation. I wouldn't either. As a roofing contractor I see roofs all the time that are blistered, dry, crunchy and cracking. The top reason is no ventilation or at least very poor ventilation. All these that are loosing shingles and expecting the manufacturer to replace them need to go back to the contractor that installed the damn thing. Six nails per shingle is what is required by Malarkey. A lot of roofing companies promise 5-6 nails per shingle but you would be surprised at the number of roofs I've looked at that only have 3 or four. This allows wind to get under them before the glue strips have had a chance to adhere. It takes time for a new roof to settle and adhere properly... it doesn't happen overnight! Most every negative review I have read here is an installation issue and those issues void the warranty. The manufacturer of any shingle has no control over the idiots that are installing their product. If you go to WalMart to buy a can of coffee and its stale you don't call bitching to Folgers that their product is inferior. On a very personal level, I very highly recommend Malarkey products. As a contractor, I very highly recommend Malarkey products. That is all I sell (and I get NO kickbacks from Malarkey at all) unless the customer makes a request for something else.
