"Samsung Photovoltaic Panel Failure"
Installed 8 years ago: 4/04/2012 Although there were expected seasonal fluctuations in the volume of power produced especially in the 'Winter Months' with shorter days, within four years it became obvious that almost half of the panels were experiencing a 10-15% reduction in power produced. Since that was borderline within the Warranty range, all I could do was wait to see if the drop continued. Periodic panel cleaning was completed. When the reduction reached 20%, I contacted contractor to request replacement of the defective panels. They responded that Samsung was not replacing panels under the warranty so they tried replacing one of the Enphase inverters to see if it made a difference. It did not. The reduction continued and is now a 40-45% drop in power produced for 8 panels. I also tried multiple time to contact Samsung directly at their email address but no response. On their sales literature, Samsung 'sold themselves' that they would be here to support the customer and resolve all warranty issues, but when it became obvious this half the panels were a failure, they jumped ship and hid.

"Samsung Solar Panels"
I just installed my solar panels over the summer. I liked them then because of the idea of "saving the world". I live in a busy area and dislike feeling like I contribute even more to pollution. However, and not due to the solar panels, but in the winter-time there isn't much (or any) light. I don't save any, or much money over this season. Another con is that for about half the day (or again, less, especially now because of early sunsets) I get electricity. The weather, namely the snow, has also affected the effectiveness of them. A major con. The panels are strong and I felt safe buying from Samsung because they are a reputable and respectable business. It was worth the cost, because my electricity bill now is so low. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend it to a friend, especially one who lived in a sunny and unpolluted area. I feel that they would reap the best benefits and save the most money over the long run.

"Why to Buy Solar Panels"
I have bought my new solar panels very recently, and have a some what neutral opinion. For example I love the fact of how I am helping the environment and that makes me feel good about myself. I also feel good about the fact that I am saving money using a completely free source of energy. But then comes the part when I do not feel good about my panels at all. That is when I get my bill from Samsung. Do not get me wrong Samsung is a very good brand of solar panels and I would most defiantly recommend them, if it was not for the giant price tag. They are great quality but the price makes you wonder if you're saving money at all. They are very durable to; I have never needed to replace them and would buy again. They are the best of the best but you need to pay extra for the best apparently.
